Defne works in the fields of health, education, culture, and arts, having trained in trauma resolution (Somatic Experiencing®, Integral Somatic Psychology, Full Embodiment), contemporary dance (doctoral degree), sociology (university and college degrees), intermodal expressive arts therapy, body-focused therapies (Deep Tissue Release, Trigger Point & Movement, integrative craniosacral therapy), and meditation.
She offers individual sessions online and in person - the latter primarily in France, Austria, and Turkey. She specializes in sexual, migration, and physical traumas. In addition to her individual practice, she conducts workshops for groups, organizes further training and conferences, and facilitates group therapy sessions worldwide. Over the years, she has worked with many groups with different needs - primarily children, youth, and women's groups.
As an SEP and SE® general assistant, she also conducts individual sessions. As a member of the board of directors of Somatic Experiencing® International, she also participates in the work of cultural and research committees. Having a multicultural family and geographical background herself, she has experienced firsthand the respect for differences and survival in difficult circumstances.
